EdU Space is a student-run community platform for students of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). We are not affiliated with or endorsed by EdUHK.
We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the platform:
- Account data: Your EdUHK student email address and hashed password (managed by Firebase Authentication).
- Content data: Forum posts, course reviews, and notes listings you voluntarily submit.
- Usage data: Anonymous visit counts and aggregate statistics (no individual tracking).
- Device data: FCM push token (only if you grant notification permission), stored solely to deliver reply notifications to you.
- To verify your EdUHK student status and maintain your account.
- To display your contributions (forum posts, reviews) — your email is always masked (e.g. s123****@s.eduhk.hk) in public views.
- To send you in-app and push notifications about replies to your threads (opt-in only).
- To compute aggregate statistics (member count, post count) shown on the home page.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing. Your data is stored on Google Firebase (servers may be located outside Hong Kong). Firebase's privacy policy applies: firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Your account and associated content are retained while your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us. Content you delete is removed immediately from public view and purged from our database within 30 days.
Under Hong Kong's Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request erasure of your account and personal data.
- Withdraw consent at any time (this will require account deletion).
To exercise these rights, contact us via the forum or by emailing the platform administrator.
Passwords are hashed by Firebase Authentication and never stored in plain text. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We perform periodic security reviews.
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced via the Important Notices section on the home page.

EdU Space is exclusively for current and former students of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). By registering, you confirm that you hold a valid @s.eduhk.hk email address. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by EdUHK.
- Be respectful. Harassment, bullying, or hate speech is strictly prohibited.
- Do not share false, misleading, or defamatory information about individuals or the university.
- Do not post spam, unsolicited advertisements, or off-topic promotional content.
- Do not share copyrighted materials without proper authorisation.
- Do not impersonate other users, staff, or EdUHK officials.
You retain ownership of the content you post. By posting, you grant EdU Space a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display your content on the platform. You may delete your own content at any time.
Reviews must reflect your genuine personal experience. Do not post reviews for courses you have not taken, or submit reviews on behalf of others. Fabricated reviews will be removed and may result in account suspension.
You are responsible for all activity under your account. Keep your password secure and do not share your account. Report any unauthorised access immediately.
EdU Space reserves the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our sole discretion. We aim to be fair and will notify users of significant actions whenever possible.
EdU Space is provided "as is". Course information and reviews are user-generated and may not be accurate. Always verify with official EdUHK sources for academic decisions.
We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be announced via the Important Notices section on the home page. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
